Flow Summer School
Tue, 02/01/2022 - 13:49

From May 23rd to June 17th, the Polytech Montpellier graduate School from the University of Montpellier (France), in cooperation with Montpellier SupAgro and the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie" of Montpellier, is organizing a 4-week Summer School programme called FLOW (Food, Living Organism, Water)

After a very successful 2021 edition, it is with great joy that CHARM is renewing its partnership with FLOW for this 2022 edition of the summer school!

We are even happier to inform you that this year, the event will take place in person in the wonderful city of Montpellier, in the South of France.

This second year of a close collaboration between FLOW and CHARM-EU will allow to pursue efforts in favor of an innovative pedagogical model : with students, for students !

Face challenges for a more sustainable world…

This 4-week Program is dedicated to the study of Grand Industrial Challenges in France in three major scientific areas:

  1. Food, wine and Water (FEAT track)
  2. Sustainable Energy and Materials; (SEM track)
  3. Data and Information Processing (DIP Track)

The courses will be taught in English, in little groups of 10 to 15 students and will grant the equivalent to 10 ECTS in your university curriculum. These European credits will be divided into several parts.

FLOW offers 64 class hours of scientific lectures and projects related to several Engineering challenges. (7 ECTS)

In parallel with these scientific courses, the program also provides a general presentation of France and, specifically, a full immersion into the culturally and historically-rich Occitanie Region, with visits of its emblematic places of interest.  You will learn the basics of French vocabulary particularly in the fields of gastronomy and culture. (2 ECTS)

Finally, as a student, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate on a cross-disciplinary project to engage in Sustainability. (1 ECTS) The objective of this project is to allow you to experience cross-cultural collaboration on a range of scientific disciplines related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations.

Joining forces with CHARM-EU

Just like the CHARM-EU model, the FLOW Summer School is student-centred and will offer students the opportunity to choose a scientific path in line with their own professional project. With the courses and tutored project focusing on challenges connected to sustainability issues, FLOW perfectly embodies the challenge-based approach and the will to strive for a more sustainable future that are at the core of the CHARM-EU initiative. The transdisciplinary and the international and intercultural aspect of FLOW are also aligned with CHARM-EU values, making it the perfect showcase of the CHARM-EU experience.

If you are a student who aspires to join CHARM-EU, join the Summer School FLOW in order to get a glimpse of this unique pedagogical model, to meet other students from all around the world and to build a sustainable future, from now on !
