CHARM-EU master's programme takes off
CHARM-EU is the first European University alliance to start teaching its pilot master’s programme called ‘Global Challenges for Sustainability’ in September 2021.
Since its foundation CHARM-EU has been working tirelessly to put together a programme that offers a new university model full of innovative and exciting opportunities. Included in the Alliance’s approach is a variety of mobility opportunities, a student-centred approach, a great emphasis on inclusivity, and a great emphasis on tackling modern day sustainability challenges. Despite the challenges faced by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the operating team of the CHARM-EU Alliance has achieved strong results and managed to put together a programme that could successfully commence at the beginning of the academic year 2021/2022.
Between the 1st -3rd of September 2021 CHARM-EU hosted a series of events to welcome its first students through a dynamic and innovative orientation week. For three days students had the opportunity to connect with teachers, external stakeholders, and learn about all opportunities and challenges CHARM-EU has to offer. The orientation week programme included a variety of games, exercises, and informative sessions.
An opening ceremony with students at the forefront
Furthermore, as a central element of the event series, on the 2nd of September CHARM-EU hosted its official opening ceremony with the participation of students, rectors and policymakers. This prestigious event provided an opportunity for the Rectors of the five partner universities of the Alliance to address all university citizens and welcome the new students of the course. Representatives of institutions outside the higher education sector also addressed the audience sharing their welcoming words into this new educational model created by CHARM-EU. The ceremony included speeches from Tine Delva Deputy Head of the Higher Education Unit of the European Commission, Dr. Manuel Castells, Minister of Universities from Spain, and Prof. Dr. László Palkovics, Minister for Innovation and Technology from Hungary.
As the ’Global Challenges for Sustainability’ master’s has officially begun, we are sure to see a myriad of exciting advancements and achievements from the Alliance and its students.
