Between 12 and 14 June 2023, WIMEK is organising the first TRED conference. The interactive event titled “Co-creating space for collaborative research and learning to inspire, interact and integrate” will focus on inter- and transdisciplinary science, a central topic for our TORCH project as well.

The complex societal challenges of the 21st century require the integration of scientific and societal knowledge in order to define problems, identify alternatives and to design new processes. As knowledge integration raises many questions and requires new forms of collaboration, the objective of the Transdisciplinary Research, Education and Dialogue initiative (TRED) is to further transdisciplinary science through creating a safe space for dialogue, unpacking theories, practices and essentials of knowledge integration.

Focusing on the co-creation of space for collaborative research and learning, the first TRED Conference organised by the Wageningen Institute for Environment and Climate Research will dig deeper into the fundamentals of inter- and transdisciplinary science, make time for dialogue and hands-on explorations of different approaches, and experiment with transdisciplinary processes through mini-hackathons.

Assistant professor Dr. Annisa Triyanti (Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University), who also contributed to the TORCH work package on public engagement, will make a presentation about a scoping study on transdisciplinary collaboration with recommendations on how to support it through funding, capacity building and other measures.

All the sessions on the 12th of June will be online, you can register for free until the 2nd of June.
