CHARM-EU at the #EAIE2022: presenting best practices and boosting knowledge sharing

From 13 to 16 September took place in Barcelona the 32nd Annual EAIE Conference. Under the theme 'The future in full colour', this international benchmark event explored various approaches on internationalisation to draw an inclusive picture of the future of higher education.

CHARM-EU activities during the EAIE’s international week started on Monday, 13 with a cocktail offered by the University of Barcelona (UB) to European University alliance representatives. Held at the gardens of its historic building, the Rector of the University of Barcelona, Prof. Joan Guàrdia Olmos welcomed the event highlighting the importance of the initiative to shape the future of universities. Participants had an opportunity to exchange ideas and to know more about different alliance’s work and build new synergies.

Campus Experience: CHARM-EU on the spotlight

In the framework of EAIE annual meeting, on Tuesday, 13 the University of Barcelona received a delegation of representatives from foreign universities to learn more about UB’s internationalisation strategies, policies and programmes. As part of the visit, participants learned about CHARM-EU in a special session introduced by the Rector Olmos and presented by the Alliance Manger, Meritxell Chaves. During the presentation, Meritxell Chaves introduced the European University Initiative and talked about the CHARM-EU innovative education model, including the process towards the approval of a European joint degree for the Master’s in Global Challenges for Sustainability.

The role of collaborative programmes in the European Universities Initiative: the CHARM-EU case

To close the CHARM-EU activities during the #EAIE2022, Meritxell Chaves participated in a session on European collaborative programmes and the European Universities Initiative. During her presentation, she stressed CHARM-EU main achievements, including the steps towards the consolidation of a new university model.  With an audience with more than 200 participants, Meritxell also emphasized the innovative journey to consolidate the Master’s in Global Challenges for Sustainability, the first joint degree accredited by 5 European universities and the challenges to reach a Joint European Degree Label.
