Call for expression of interest: CHARM-EU Community Business and Society Information session

CHARM-EU Information Session Business and Society
Tue, 07/14/2020 - 12:22

On behalf of CHARM-EU Initiative, we are pleased to invite you to be part of the CHARM-EU Community to explore and discuss opportunities and strengths related to the creation of a new innovative university model connecting business and society, students and researchers.

More specifically, we would like to hear from you – enterprises and civil organisations – what the future of higher education looks like. To this end, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the first CHARM-EU Business and Society information session that will take place on 22 July 2020, 11am GMT/12pm CET for one hour.

CHARM-EU represents a Challenge-Driven, Accessible, Research-based and Mobile model for the co-creation of a European University. This Initiative will offer a learning experience that is based on the implementation of a transdisciplinary approach to program and curricula design combining the best of the different European traditions in structuring curriculum through knowledge-creating teams, with a flexible, skill oriented modulization structure. To make this transformation real, in September 2021 CHARM-EU will open a one-year Master’s degree “Global Challenges for Sustainability” in the areas of Water, Food and Global Health.

In order to create this transdisciplinary model that can best meet the needs of the socio-economic world, we would like to invite you to participate in our first information session dedicated to the business and society sector. The contribution from enterprises and society is one of the major stepstones of our alliance aiming at facing global challenges by offering an innovative and inclusive university model. This information session will be the perfect occasion to learn more about CHARM-EU and find out opportunities to be part of our community.

This session will consist of the following:

  • The European Universities Initiative and overview of CHARM-EU;
  • Introduction to the Knowledge Creating Teams and external stakeholders;
  • Overview of CHARM-EU project and pilot Masters;
  • Question & Answer session;
  • Follow up (Introduction of the questionnaire and next steps).

CHARM-EU Background

CHARM-EU  is one of 17 European universities funded by the European Union through the first call of the European Universities initiative. It will design and test a new European University concept through the creation of a pilot masters delivered across all partners and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. CHARM-EU represents a Challenge-driven, Accessible, Research-based and Mobile university and its mission is to bring together a new generation of creative Europeans enabled to cooperate across languages, borders and disciplines to address societal challenges and skills shortages in Europe. It will produce a transferrable toolkit before formalising and scaling-up to future-proof CHARM-EU University at the end of the funded period.

CHARM-EU has students as its core. Our students will be trained in transdisciplinary approaches, problem solving, sustainable development, innovation, project management and communication. The challenges they will have to take up during their training may be an opportunity for you to initiate feasibility studies, develop R&D activities and expand your network especially with the research world. This training can also benefit to you or your colleagues because it is open to lifelong learning.

All European Universities in the alliances share a long-term strategy and promote European values and identity. They will also contribute to the sustainable economic development of the regions where they are located, as their students will work closely with companies, authorities, academics and researchers to find solutions to the challenges their regions are facing.
