External Advisory Committee

The External Advisory Committee is charged with providing external viewpoints and feedback on major project outputs. It is composed by student, employer, higher education and quality assurance agencies’ representatives.

Maria Kelo
Director of the Institutional Development at the European University Association (EUA)

Maria Kelo is the Director of the Institutional Development at the European University Association (EUA). The unit’s work focuses on issues related to higher education learning and teaching, recognition, and quality assurance. She is also a member of the Swiss Accreditation Council and a member of the Executive Board of EQAR. 

Before joining EUA in January 2022, Maria was the Director of ENQA and a member of the EQAR Executive Board from 2013-2020. She took part in European policy-making processes within the Bologna Process and through cooperation with the European Commission. Source

Guibert Tangu
Executive Committee member from the European Student Union Executive Committee (ESU)

Tanguy Guibert is member of the Executive Committee at the European Student Union. He studies international political science at the University Paris Est Créteil and holds a nursing diploma. He joined the student movement in France in 2017 while attending nursing school. He advocated primarily for improving life and studying conditions at the local and national levels. Tanguy created the first policy document on European universities for FAGE, the French national student union while serving on their executive committee. Source

Juan Rayón
President of the European Student Union (ESU)

Juan Rayón is the president of the Erasmus Student Network. He has a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Oviedo and is currently finishing two Master’s in International Law and European Studies. Juan did his Erasmus exchange in Istanbul and also participated in the European Solidarity Corps in Padova. He has been president of ESN Spain and Liaison Officer for Inclusive Mobility of the Erasmus Student Network.  

As president, he is responsible for the general coordination of the organisation, external relations, policy, and advocacy. His main priorities include increasing participation in learning mobility and fostering civic engagement and participation of young people in democratic life through the Erasmus programme. Source

Magalie Soenen
Director of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR)

Magalie Soenen is director of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). Prior to joining EQAR, Magalie worked as Higher Education Policy Advisor for the Ministry of Education and Training of Belgium (Flemish community). Within the Bologna Process, Magalie co-chairs the Thematic Peer Group on Quality Assurance as well as the Bologna Coordination Group on Global Policy Dialogue. She is also a member of the Working Group on Learning and Teaching, the Bologna Implementation Coordination Group, the task force on Enhancing Knowledge Sharing in the EHEA community and the BFUG Board. She started her career at Ghent University as policy officer in quality assurance and internationalisation. Source
