Students are the core of the CHARM-EU initiative. It is made for them, and partially by them, with the constant involvement of a student body in the working groups of the alliance. As part of this endeavour, here you can find opportunities and initiatives available for students.

2024 Internship Programs for Emerging European Scientists

African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) and Agropolis Fondation are jointly implementing the One Planet Fellowship, a career development initiative targeting scientists working at the nexus of agriculture and climate change. The Fellowship is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and BNP Paribas Foundation with additional support from Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the European Union (EU) Commission. The Fellowship seeks to build a vibrant and highly connected network of African and European scientists equipped to lead cutting-edge research and innovation to help a diverse group of men and women smallholder farmers adapt to climate change in Africa.

Who do they look for?

  • European scientists (EU nationals), male and female, below 30 years old, ready to work in a multicultural environment.
  • European students interested in conducting research in Africa as part of their study programs.
  • European Master and PhD students or junior scientists working in various European research institutions and universities. Their focus research areas or study programs should be clearly connected to agriculture, food systems, climate change, and gender.

W4F Hackathon

The Water4Future Hackathon is back for another exciting edition!

In this one of a kind event, transdisciplinary teams of 5 to 7 students will be guided international experts from different fields (marketing, entrepreneurship, hydrology, …) to take on a unique challenge. Create a project addressing a specific challenge related to water … in just 36 hours! And to spice things up, the theme of this 2024 edition will be kept secret until the start of the event.

The event is organized by the ICIREWARD UNESCO International Centre for interdisciplinary research on Water systems dynamics, in Montpellier

It will be held on in a hybrid format on February 15-16 of 2024, and registrations are open until December 31 of 2023.
